The first of my houses designed for those with a smaller prim and linden budget, The Mountain cabin weighs in at a very low 65 prims. While simpler in look and layout than the others and much lower in prims, the complexity of the post & beam vernacular style and design of the individual parts places this house firmly alongside the others in upholding the rustica tradition of quality design and attention to detail. It is available here or it can be seen from the house rezzer at the island on the SW corner @ Rustica (slurl below)

This house contains a variety of bonus features and items as well as functionality rarely found in such an economical structure. The focus on detail and craftsmanship includes:

• Sculpted wall beams, not just a flat prim texture.
• Sculpted House Djinn above the fireplace mantel to control window textures and transparency
• Stone fireplace with a functional chimney. (click hearth to turn on or off the chimney smoke)
• 6 different floor textures which can be changed by clicking the mantel
• Post and beam/plaster construction over stone foundation, beamed ceiling
• Vented gable roof and vented front dormers
• Crown/Shoe moulding
• Qoined corner facades
• 1-off and baked texture work throughout
• Opening front door with sound
• BONUS: Add-on sculpted, snowy roof with icicles which can be placed over the existing roof to match winter themes.
• Additional items include a fire, rug and broom to instantly make your house a home.

The footprint of the Mountain Cabin is 20 X 15. If Oprah Winfrey stood up and bent over next to herself, she would fit 15 deep and 6 wide, or 12 and 5 Kirstie Alley's end to end, respectively.

Nice, at first glance . . .

First of all before I start the actual review, I must say that Maxwell Graf has other builds that are amazing and appear to be nearly flawless. He also has a stunningly beautiful sim where you can view his wares before purchase. Now, onward to my actual review of "Rustica - The Mountain Cabin" . . .

Upon first glance and even after an initial walkaround, it looked great. I usually catch any flaws and/or drawbacks that may hinder me from purchasing something when I go and take a look at it.This time, however, I missed the two main things that take away two stars from my review.

1. You can't lock the door. There's other nice options, but you cannot simply lock your front door. This is something that is usually a given, especially with a small build such as this that costs L$1,000. Everything is no mod, so you can't even place your own simple door locking script inside of it.

2. There's a very unsightly flaw on the left side of the fireplace outside. There's part of the inside wood sticking through to the outside. I am quite frankly shocked that it was missed before the final release of the build.

Also, the included fire with wood for the fireplace is no copy. So, you have to be careful to remember not to accidentally delete it when you decide to move and/or delete the rest of the build.

As my title suggests, it is nice at first glance, but not_so_nice when you go over it more closely. Another lesson learned . . . be sure to ask first if the door can be locked. I will not take that for granted from now on.
