San Radegonda
Saint Radegunde – a Thuringian Princess and Queen of France, Daughter of the pagan king Berthachar of Thuringia. She was given at age 12 as a hostage to Clotaire I after he conquered her father’s army. She converted to Christianity, but was forced to marry Clotaire, who mistreated her, partly because she was childless. She eventually left him and joined a convent, eventually founding the convent of the Holy Cross in Poitiers, France. . She was an intellectual and a peacemaker. Jesus College in Cambridge was dedicated to her.
