The STL Singularity Keytar is a customizable typing override as well as an instrument. When you type, a random sound loop will play and multi-colored notes will appear around you. You can add your own loops - perfect for musicians who want to show off their own epic riffs. You can also use the Keytar for performing in SL. Only the hands and arms are animated, you can use different dances or animations in conjunction with the Keytar.
The Keytar is completely customizable - add your signature, a photograph, fuzzy dice, make it larger, make it shinier, change colors etc.
There are two models, Eclipse and Halo, each with a Standard and Deluxe version included. Standard has one prim for the white keys, which you can modify and create your own Keys designs. The Deluxe has a higher prim count, each key is a separate prim.
If you are using the Keytar as a typing override, it's recommended you use the Standard version. The Deluxe is better suited to performing.

****A low-prim, non-mesh version is available, see the STL-X Keytar under Related Items below. Prim counts on the full versions vary between models.****
There are 2 issues with how SL functions, not the Keytar itself or it's script, and generally occur in laggy areas -
- Sometimes the Keytar may continue playing a sound loop after you stop typing. Starting to type again usually fixes this. If not, either set the Keytar to SILENT temporarily, or detach and re-attach the Keytar.
- If you have the Keytar set to OFF, a few of the prims may remain visible even after you stop typing. Oftentimes this is only on your screen, and other residents see the Keytar correctly. This usually fixes itself after you type a couple of times. This is a result of the same glitch that sometimes prevents you from seeing mesh clothing or items, not an issue in the Keytar itself.
These are less likely to occur if you are using the Standard version of the Keytar. The Deluxe version contains a higher number of prims, resulting in more script calls that SL has to process. It's just how SL is, and if you're using the Keytar for performing, you don't need the ON/OFF function anyway.
