What is Shield//Cube?
► S//C is a pseudo-shield for Nanite Systems ATOS enabled units. Since there is no way to directly prevent ATOS damage, what S//C does is provide a buffer of consumable/rechargeable HP that will immediately repair any damaged sustained in combat.
► NOTICE: You must however live through the initial damage in order for the shield to keep you online for the next one.
//////
You said rechargeable. Does this mean I need to buy a special charger, or use my own?
► No. S//C charges 10 points of shield HP passively per second at a cost of 5kJ/s.
► NOTICE: S//C is greedy. It can and will fully deplete your batteries if you're not careful!
► That being said, S//C only uses power while it is actively recharging or repairing damage.
//////
How do the repairs work?
► Your armour will be repaired 1:1 with your current shield power. Meaning, if you take 100 damage, S//C will deduct 100 SHP from itself to repair that damage. If you have insufficient shield power, S//C
will instead repair only what it has power left to do so. Once shields are fully depleted, you're on your
own until you can find cover to recharge.
► S//C will go on a 5 second cooldown upon taking damage before it begins recharging itself again. You will be vulnerable during this window if you do not have additional shield power available.
► Additionally, as ATOS units take repeated or heavy damage, they lose maximum armour capacity. This is, what I call, structural damage. S//C will not initially repair this damage. It focuses all of its shield power to restoring lost armour first. Once you're out of combat, and S//C is fully recharged, it will begin repairing structural damage at a rate of 1 every 2 seconds, or 1 for every 20 shield power. It will not drop your shield under full charge or leave you vulnerable during this time, but it will continue to drain power. Once you're back to maximum operational capacity, it will also repair any current malfunctions you may have incurred from the damage.
//////
How do I know how much shield power I have?
► S//C has shield power equal to half of your total maximum armour. This number does not drop as
you incur structural damage. So, if a unit has 400 HP, they will have a 200 power shield. The minimum
amount of shield power one has will not drop under 50, so, any unit with less than 100 HP won't have
to worry about being under protected.
► By default S//C has an active display showing its values, and status. @shieldcube display will toggle this. However, it's a bit unwieldy. However, S//C has full compatibility with Info//Cube 2.0 and up. Shield power will draw as a third gauge placed between health and armor. It is fully configured to show shield status in all presets and in vertical placement.
//////
Are these values configurable?
► Not at current. Having effectively 1.5x HP over the maximum limit of a CSU already is somewhat
unbalancing. Having units with several thousand shield power would be.. Well. Broken. There is still
the caveat that damage can't be blocked, so a sufficiently powerful, or saturating attack could overwhelm
ATOS, and by effect S//C... But unless specifically configured to do so, or being hosed by several miniguns,
shotguns, or hypervelocity shells.. Stopping a 400 HP unit with effectively unlimited instant repairs
isn't in the spirit of this product.
