The Silicates are the largest, the most interesting, and the most complicated class of minerals by far. I have a great many silicate gemstones in my collection, but these are amongst the most famous of all, valued by the royal and wealthy since ancient times.

Blue Topaz is often produced artificially by irradiating and heating clear topaz,) Garnet: (as pretty as a precious stone, it's abundance keeps it from being valued more than it is) and Peridot: (in use since ancient Egypt, the best specimens are an intense yellow-green.)
