INSTALLATION GUIDE:
Arranging mega prims can be a rather confusing experience----especially a size of 512x512----because it will rezz at 256 meters AGL!
Our Sim Surroundings are sculptured plane prims, which means that they are invisible from below, but you can follow these simple steps
to avoid loosing control:

First, we advise you to download and install the 3rdparty viewer, Emerald, because its view distance can be set to 1024 meters and this
option will provide you with a more powerful view to help you see and control placing the Sim Surroundings on your land.

Sim Surroundings Vol. 1 Installation Guide :

Setting up mega prims can be challenging, but worth the effort for adding a spectacular look to your sim.

1. First, when rezzing mega prims, it is very important to know from what position it is done. Therefor, we always recommend to rez a standard box (0.5x0.5x0.5) and place it at the EXACT CENTER of your sim. That would probably be 128,128,20.

2. Next, drag the Sim Surrounding from your inventory, directly onto the top of the standard box you just created. Doing this makes certain that the Sim Surrounding is positioned at 128x128.

3. Now, look for the center of the Z-axis. It could be as far away as 256 meters above your head, so you may have to fly up there to get control of your movements for an accurate positioning. Go to EDIT > OBJECT and replace values for Z-axis with 20.0. Then, press ENTER on your keyboard and the Sim Surrounding will go down to your land below.

4. Fly back down to do you repositioning, following the center when dragged across your sim. Finally, we advise that you type in and store the coordinates for the Sim Surrounding in the description field of the GENERAL tab.

Well done. You should be all set to enjoy your new Sim Surround. :-)

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
We can't confirm if mega prims might cause lag or be responsible for collision bugs. In fact, no matter where you are in world you will always be standing on top of several mega prims at that very moment. You can't walk directly on a mega prim. Instead, you will probably "float" above its surface. This is why mega prims are used only for decorative purposes and kept set as phantoms. If you absolutely must walk on your mega prim, then rez a standard prim, make it invisible and use it as a ground surface.
