3D-Radar System Information

First of all, I wish to give credit to Jesse Barnett for providing the original 3D-Radar system from which this one was derived. Without the public domain release of his scripts this system would not have been possible.

So, what's different about this system than Jesse's? Well, the following are new features and enhancements:

* - Sim-Wide Operation! (versus 96m range for the original)
* - 256m x 256m x 256m Coverage Area! (original had a 192m diameter spherical coverage area)
* - Mesh and automatically scalable to any size up to 20m! (original had to be scaled within the script)
* - Low Lag Operation! No Sensors used! (original used sensors in the radar script and in the scan balls)
* - Color coded scan balls with avatar location in hover text! (original was not color coded and did not have location information)
* - Automatic Calibration!
* - FULL PERM AND FREE!

This is a much more useful 3D Radar system than the original. And, in keeping with the spirit of the original, I have decided to keep the system full perm and in the public domain. Feel free to use this system in your own projects or distribute to others. But, please, don't sell the 3D Radar system as a separate component. One final request: If you find this system and the new features I've added useful, let others know by leaving a review for this item on the Marketplace. Thanks.

To Use:

Just rez the 3D-Radar System wherever you would like it to be and resize it as needed. You can, of course, re-texture the mesh cube of the system to whatever you wish, but the grid texture used is properly scaled and graduated to 1m resolution.

Once positioned and resized, click the cube to start the system. The cube will rez scan balls for all avatars within range. Please, note these characteristics of the system:

* - The center of the cube represents 128,128,zzzz, where zzzz is the altitude of the cube
* - Scan balls will be rezzed only for avatars that are +- 128m of the altitude of the cube
* - Scan balls will be Green when the avatar is 0m - 20m distance from the cube center.
* - Scan balls will be Yellow when the avatar is between 20m and 100m distance from the cube center
* - Scan balls will be Red when the avatar is greater than 100m distance from the cube center
* - Scan balls derez automatically when avatars move outside of the coverage area of the cube
* - Scan balls are automatically scaled to be 1% of the cube size
* - The white scan ball represents the location of the center of the cube relative to the coverage area.
* - Click the cube to turn the system off, before resizing or relocating the system.
* - No access restrictions have been implemented in the scripts. Anyone can operate the system, unless the scripts are modified as needed.

If you wish to position scaled models of objects in the cube that are within the coverage area, use the grid texture and the white scan ball as guides. Once your objects are positioned, you can remove the white scan ball, if you like.

Have fun!

Thanks for putting in the effort to create this. It is full perms as well, so people can study the code and learn. Well done.

A fun gadget

A pity the altitude detection is limited, and hard to see parcel only without configuring in the script, but FREE, full perm, so impossible to be negative !!
That's fun anyway and really interesting functions inside to manipulate !
