Often found around LSSC or Coalition borders, the Sphyrna Class Corvette is marketed and sold as a 'high-speed transport' but known to most as a blockade runner. For small-time traders and couriers, the ship is no frills in terms of comfort. Accommodation non-existent, the ship is outfitted exclusively for short (fast) trips with no more than a crew of 3. A pair of anti fighter turrets up front and a ring of 8 beefy engines, this blockade runner is all about speed. With enough power driving it forward and aggressively placed turrets, the ship is perfect for punching through checkpoints and outrunning any 'eager' pursuers.

Ultra-smooth non-physical flight modes with simulated momentum and full 6 degrees of freedom acrobatic motion will enable you to glide effortlessly through space.

Forward-facing turrets based on Artemis script set, features both automatic tracking with target leading and manual mouselook control.

A Scene Rezzer with support for adding additional scenes.

A range of visual effects including an FTL Jump drive visual + sound, engine lights that increase in intensity once activated, ribbon particle engine trails, an alarm system with shipwide lighting effects, ambient sounds.

Revamped HUD with engine power slider for easier speed control (useful for complex manoeuvres such as docking and landing).

Flexible Authorization database for adding a crew roster and managing access to ship systems

It could be better, it could be far worse. But this ship all and all is quite nice for flying about with friends or even sitting up some beds and using it as a house!

This is an excellent ship to make modification and customization on, provided you have reasonable building skills to do so. I've been extremely happy with what I've been able to do it to suit role play needs. I did end up opening up and widening the aft section into usable space.

Guess I'll get to the points as to why not a 5 star review. First problem I encountered was that the ship does not do SIM crossing in it's normal flight modes. You have to use the FTL Jump drive to leap frog it into the adjacent SIM. This is the first ship out of many ships which I own which refuses to do a SIM cross (it just stops and refuses to move forward). The FTL Jump drive is easy enough to work via commands though so typing in something like /2 north 20 is not that big of a deal to get it to cross over. I've actually come to favor it over the sling slot effect associated with SIM crossings and the related mishaps that occur.

The rezzer system on this ship is an excellent feature. If you are going to setup your own scenes for it, you'll need to copy the two files required for it out of default cargo which is rezzed. I was a little frustrated and disappointed that I had to resort to locating these files here. The Documentation explains that you need to drop two files into things, yet they were not in some folder or handy place which was obvious.

The down side of the Rezzer system, if your scene consists of a soft-linked scene of multiple objects you'll want to derez the scene before taking or deleting the ship otherwise some items may not automatically de-rez. Hard linked scenes appear to fully derez without issues when taking/deleting the ship.

The stock behind camera view is a far away when flying the ship. The change camera view commands work great on the port and starboard side seats. The change camera view command has no effect on the pilot seat even though a note card containing the views exist to work with the command in the pilot seat itself.

Good-looking ship, although......

This is a problem I keep running into with the other ships I've bought from this person: The weapon system interface is not user-friendly, the cargo lags out of the ship (Which I thought was a lot larger.) and there's not much to the ship at all, not like the cruiser I bought.
