A neoclassical temple table centrepiece standing on top of a pedestal and decorated with a tapis dry lichen.
As 18th century progressed the gout for antiquity increased, seeing it's peak in the decade of 1780s, as part of the decor for dinner table, centrepieces made of porcelain and other materials depicting greek ruins and architecture elements became more fashionable, these often were placed in the middle of the dessert tables surrounded by sweetened fruits, mazipans, flowers, fragrant garlands etc
