I have, with a bit of disappointment, purchased nearly all the lava lamps I've been able to find in SL and ***THIS ONE TOPS THEM ALL!*** The quality of the mesh LOD is awesome-- can be seen over 64m away-- the scripting is extremely realistic compared to others and there's a good selection of them all for a really LOW PRICE! Don't waste your time with the others, just get this. Highly recommended for it's incredible realism, construction and price. I have no idea what the "junk" meant, other than a junk reviewer. Ignore it. Probably did it for a competitor's benefit.
