Don't care for the whatchamecallit? It's a 1 prim staircase with optional handrails (adding 1 prim per side). If you do care about the technical details, here goes...
Detailed staircase with 11 steps (actually 11 risers, 10 treads with nosing, and the landing is counted as the 11th step) with stringers - all in 1 prim. The staircase does NOT have to be phantom and does NOT require an invisible prim to walk on. One prim does it all.
Additional prims can be added for the railing. It has a profiled handrail, one banuster every other tread, and a capped newel (the post) at the top. 1 prim per side, typically only used at an open side, not along a wall.
Don't forget to do something with the spandrel, the space under the stairs. It's useable, walkable and makes a great closet, restroom, pet's corner and whatnot.
The sample has texture mapping set on all prims, favoring a texture with a vertical woodgrain, and comes in red-pine finish.
PLACEMENT: Build your stairs, add railings as needed, link keeping the stairs as main prim, move and rotate into position. Sink the stairs into the floor until the lowest riser sits on the floor. The newel should sit on the next floor landing, with the top riser touching the ceiling. Fine-tune the placement in such a way that the landing leans over the top riser as much as the treads. You can stretch or downscale the stairs and railings a bit to make it fit, but don't overdo.
