Is it an alien? A Praying Mantis made giant by 1950s radiation? Or is it... YOU? Transgenia's Insectoid Avatar can fit into lots of science fiction, horror and fantasy roleplays!

The avatar comes with a full alpha layer to wear so that "you" are not visible through the mesh. He/she is sized very thin, so many rigged mesh clothing items may not fit very well, but how many insects do you know who wear clothing? He does look dapper in a top hat, though. I know from personal experience!

* Note: I am new to avatar rigging and while the rigging on this mesh is very good, his elbows do distort slightly in some positions. It didn't bother me when I wore the avatar as he is so outlandish it doesn't really seem to make much difference. But I wanted you to know in advance in case!

It's not bad

I like it for taking some pulp fiction / retro sci fi photos. I found an AO that works well with it in my inventory so it looks even more menacing.

Great AV for Sci-Fi RP!

I needed an AV for RPing in a sci-fi area and wanted something different than the usual furry AV's I used. Those all seemed a little too cute for the setting even if they were allowed. I saw this and couldn't resist. My character has been a hit and I've had fun setting up his back story. I was actually rather surprised at how few were creeped out by this AV on initially seeing it. It's very alien looking but apparently doesn't come across as scary or threatening just from it's appearance.

As stated in the description, forget actual clothing. Even accessories will take some work to size and position. Other than maybe hats, you'll want full mod items, not just resizer scripting, especially for anything meant to be worn around any body parts. This has resulted in my generally having the lowest script use in an area. The base rendering cost is higher than for a more human based AV, but still acceptable. The AO's and poses I've tried seem to work fairly well.

This isn't likely to be an AV you'll wear full time, but there are a lot of RP areas where this would fit in and give you a unique look.
