Not getting the full use out of your gadgets because you can't remember all those pesky commands?
Just plain tired of typing things like: /1 hug Pale Spectre?
Wish you had an easy to use menu-driven interface instead?
The Universal Control Device is a HUD mounted, all-in-one, fully customisable, menu interface. It can be configured to have up to 10 menus operating on 10 different channels. It will replace any command (of up to 24 characters) that you would normally type, with a corresponding menu option.
The menus can be fully structured with sub-menus, organised by gadget, or channel, as you please.
Each menu can have a user-defined title.
Each menu can use a different channel.
Each menu can carry up to a total of 12 command options and links to other menus.
Includes configurable options to:
- switch off and on whether the menu is automatically triggered On Rez.
- optionally set a time out on the menu's listen.
- switch off and on whether the menu automatically reappears after relaying a command.
Menu buttons are automatically arranged in the order they appear in the Config notecard - starting top left and running from left to right.
See item in Second LifeI have not really started digging into this gadget, as I just recived it, but theres one HUGE GLARING issue I'd like to address to the creator right off the bat. The dang thing is nocopy! Now I dont know about other folks, but I have 3 or 4 AV's I wear regualrly, several more I wear on occasion, and all of em have diffrent HUDs and diffrent commandable objects. It was my hope that I could use the UCD as a central command center for my various gadgets, but alas, I cant even include the thing in the individual AV's inventories, as I would have to track it down and manually swap it into whatever AV Im wearing at the moment. Not to mention configuring it with ALL the bits I use (instead of just the ones on that given AV), which would create a bewildering array of menus (not to mention surpassing the UCD's limited menu slots), eliminating the convieniance that this item was obviously designed to provide.
Yes, I realize that I should have checked the perms before I bought it. But making this item, which could have been incredibly useful, nocopy destroys its useability for anyone who uses more then 1 AV. I would like to urge Pale Spectre in the strongest possible tones to please make any future releases of this gadget copy/mod (while keeping the scripts nomod, of course).
Note that I'm not flaming the creator (for obviously a lot of thought and effort went into scripting it), nor am I whining about wasting money. But caveat emptor to thoes of you who wish to buy this thing, it's not all it's cracked up to be. =/
i dont know why i bought this... maybe i was out of my mind..
there is no handy function on this... never buy this, shoppers
Takes a while to wrap your brain around it, but a very nice way to control all your scripted devices. Really wish it had one feature: A way to target people standing nearby for things like MultiTools that require you to enter a player's name. That would make this just perfect.
