Voisin Biplane - 1907
The 1907 model was the first successful powered aircraft designed by Gabriel Voisin, a french aeronautical engineer and manufacturer .
The plane was powered by an V-8 Antoinette engine and suffered several modifications during its evolution, being the most significant the replacement of the biplane front elevator for a single surface and the late addition of side curtains between the inner set of interplane struts.
Piloted by Henry Farman, the aircraft achieved some world records and won several prizes for distance and time of flight.
Around sixty were built, fitted with diferent engines according to the preferences of the customers.
The model represented is the 1907 with single elevator, no side curtains and the V-8 Antoinette 50 HP engine.
