Only rats live underground.. and some mutant turtles someone told me, but that’s about it..
not too many fancy builds are to be found underground... sewers, parking garages and the subway.. the last one is now finally available in second life in the most grim realistic possible way. In just 150 prims, the atmosphere of an old empty subway station has been recreated.
The flickering lights of a broken soda vendor, the soft gusts of wind through a broken concrete wall and the distant sounds of a subway platform all leave you with that uncomfortable feeling that someone is watching you.. and maybe there is.. there are plenty of spots where someone can be standing there.. watching..

The Subway Station:

First things first.. this building is intended to be an underground structure. the outside is mostly textured with 100% black to not have disturbing eyesores underground. This does however mean that in order for you to place this building, you need to have terraform rights if you place it on land level. The building is packed in a rez-faux rezz box. Just place the box on your land. the entrance of the subway will rezz in front of the box, but the underground parts will also rezz to the back of it.

Like all of my builds, this one too has been textured with all custom work, textures are mapped for low lag and fast rezz. The sculpted prims I used in the subway have been optimized for the dreaded distance view bugs, which sometimes when you zoom out make the sculpts look all
deformed. If you are still experiencing this phenomenon, do the following:

On top menu, go to Advanced (Press Ctrl-Alt-D if you don't see it) and there to Debug Settings. On the window that opens,
write RenderVolumeLODFactor and change it to 8. Now the sculpts will look ok from a distance.

Legal.
