It creates a list of visitors that enter your area.
When avatars walk over the rug, it will record: their name, when they visited & for how long.
Simply place the rug and re-size it to cover your entire floor space.
You can modify the rug texture, or just make it invisible.
You could make the rug fully transparent and use it for an entire outside area you want to monitor.
The rug can monitor a single floor, or a multiple floor house or building!
The rug can be set to phantom to allow walking through if you have stairs in your building.
This rug is better than some other "proximity sensor" items.
They can detect avatars that are only nearby, and not actually within your boundaries.
Imagine your store or house that could be surrounded by neighbors.
Other "proximity sensor" items may just scan a circle around your area, including all the neighbor's visitors.
Visitor Reporter only detects visitors within the rug's edges, not visitors that are just "near" the rug.
It works great in low to medium traffic areas. Most customers have no problem with the item.

The setup is very easy...just place it and resize it.
The settings notecard contains some basic options, and once set, they do not need to be set anymore.
Just choose if you want reports emailed, where to send them & how often to send the reports.
You can also set if you want to exclude yourself from the visitor reports, and if you want to monitor multiple floors.
You can say "help report" for your options or "say report" to view the current report.
Or you can say "send report" to get a copy by email or "reset report" to clear the list.
I designed this for myself, and am very pleased with it.
It really works great and does what I want it to do.
The reports are well organized, showing seconds and minutes and readable times.
The reports are not sent at general intervals, but in orderly increments, starting at midnight SL time.

Worth The Price & Better Than What I Used Before
I got this and tried it in my apartment. It works just for my floor and is really nice to know who visited. It kind of seems like other sensor things, but it doesn't show the neighbor's visitors, which was very confusing! Also nice is that it shows when someone was there and for how long. After using it for a while, I set it to not show me on the list, so now I can just see the people visiting.
