This Flemish virginal is built after historic examples by Iohannes Ruckers and modern replicas by Hubbard & Broekman. A virginal is like a square harpsichord.
The pictures actually show two virginals, one large and one small (called an "Ottavino" since it plays an octave higher), the smaller one fitting into a slot on the larger one, which pulls out like a drawer, hence the name "Mother and Child." This listing is for the LARGE one ONLY.
The two are meant to go together, and can be purchased separately or together. There is a 50L discount for purchasing them together, though!
The decoration on this instrument is made of custom textures, original Ruckers designs that can also be seen in paintings by Vermeer. The soundboard painting is taken from a modern replica instrument.
