This Flemish "Mother and Child" virginal is built after historic examples by Iohannes Ruckers and modern replicas by Hubbard & Broekman. A virginal is like a square harpsichord. This is actually TWO virginals, one large and one small, the smaller one fitting into a slot on the larger one, which pulls out like a drawer, hence the name "Mother and Child."
The decoration on this pair of instruments is made of custom textures, original Ruckers designs that can also be seen in paintings by Vermeer. The soundboard painting is taken from a modern replica instrument.
Both of these instruments can also be purchased separately. The "Child" is a small tabletop instrument, and the "Mother" is a standard virginal. There is a 50L discount for purchasing them together, though!
