What is it?
====================

The Z&A HUD Manager is designed as a simple tool to help quickly load and unload HUDs -- either individual HUDs or sets of HUDs. Technically it can be used for any sort of attachment or worn item, but the primary (and supported) focus is HUDs.

Please note that the HUD Manager requires the use of RLV and, for the moment, only works on Firestorm or related viewers (this HUD makes use of a little difference between Firestorm and the original RLV viewer to help keep the HUD manager's folder out of normal RLV functionality).

How do I use it?
====================

First you should wear it. It will appear on your screen as a regular HUD. By default it is set to attach to the 'bottom' HUD position. If, when you first attach it, you can't see it, be sure to check behind any open viewer windows. If you still can't see it it might be that it's outside of your viewer's view. If that's the case try following the instructions you'll find in this video: http://vimeo.com/4168870

Once added, you need to set up the HUDs you wish to manage. As mentioned earlier this requires that you're running Firestorm (or a related viewer) and that you have RLV turned on. Note that for this HUD to work you *don't* need an RLV relay (feel free to wear one for other purposes but one isn't required to use the HUD Manager).

When that is done, you want to make a folder at the top level of your inventory (if you don't already have it) called #RLV. Inside that you need to make a folder called:

.Z&A HUD Manager

Please note the "." at the start of the name. That helps keep the folder invisible from other RLV devices.

Inside this folder you can make a maximum of 9 folders (this limit will likely be removed in future versions), each named after a button you want to appear inside the HUD Manager. Please ensure the names are less than 24 characters in length -- ideally 12 characters or fewer -- and don't use a "/" in the name.

Next, select a HUD. Click copy, then "Paste As Link" into the relevant folder. Repeat for each HUD you want to manage. You can place multiple links into a folder, allowing you to add several HUDs at once with one button. The result will be that you have a hierarchy that looks something like:
http://i.imgur.com/aW6233s.png

This is one of those things that's harder to describe than it is to do. Hopefully the above image helps a little. Once you have your folders set up just so, use of the HUD itself is nice and easy.

The HUD is split into three buttons. A plus sign, a mouse cursor and a minus sign. The plus and minus buttons give quick access to the "Add..." and "Remove..." menus (see below). The mouse cursor button pulls up the main menu for the HUD. Touching that gives a menu that contains the following options:

Add...
--------------------
When selected, this option shows any folders containing unworn HUDs. Choose a folder, and any unworn HUDS in that folder will be added.

Remove...
--------------------
Use this option to remove the contents of a HUD manager folder.

Lock/Unlock me
--------------------
This option lets you RLV lock or unlock the HUD manager itself. When locked it shouldn't get removed during viewer outfit changes. Using this option will also lock all HUDs that are in the special ".Keep Locked" folder. See below for more on this.

Lock...
--------------------
This option allows you to select a folder, and RLV-lock all of the HUDs it contains in place. When selected, it will show you a list of any currently unlocked folders. Locking them in place means they won't get removed during viewer outfit changes.

Unlock...
--------------------
This option lets you unlock a previously-locked HUD manager folder.

Keeping some HUDs locked
====================

Some HUDs you want to wear all the time and have stay in place even during outfit changes. The HUD Manager can help you with this. Inside the HUD Manager folder (as described above), create a folder called:

.Keep Locked

Again, note the "." at the start of the name. Once created you can place links to any HUDs you want (actually, any attachment you want) inside the ".Keep Locked" folder and, when you use the "Lock Me" option on the HUD Manager, these HUDs will also be locked in place.

Note that this folder won't appear in the HUD manager when you select "Add..." and "Remove...". This is by design. The idea of the ".Keep Locked" folder is that you always want to wear these HUDs.

This took less than 5 minutes to set up and instantly got me back 5 attachment points! I'm always near the limt so this changes a lot of things for me. It's even easier to set up and use than the instructions imply. Can't wiat to try it for a few things other than HUDs!! :)

SOOO FRICKIN" AWESOME!

5 years in SL, clicking huds on and off to lower lag, etc... finding this was like finding GOLD. Thank you SO MUCH!

If anyone leaves so much as less than a 5 star review it's because they're bent and can't read. Follow the instructions and WHAMMO, no more going in and out of inventory every single time to attach and detach huds.

I have my bodies, my heads, my photography Huds, my IKON Eyes fitting huds... just to name a few. The ability to create subfolders too means really, you can create WAY MORE than 9 Huds... just organise well and you can put them ALL in there.

I cannot thank you enough and cannot believe this was free. Best purchase in AGES... like 5 years I'd say! I'm getting it for all my avis even though I don't use them all that often.

I, like others, look forward to an update even if it's like an upgraded version. However, the developer provided this as a useful work around submitted by others and apparently useful for expanding its capabilities:

"Meanwhile though folk have used the ability to set the top folder name to do categories by having the "top" HUD load other copies of itself that point elsewhere. I'm told that works quite well. "

This was sent to me within min of when I contacted him begging for the update hehe. Great customer care.

Easy to setup, easy to use, if you know how to setup RLV. Even though RLVa is used to control submissives, this item does not require any of that system, with or without an RLV relay, it works as advertised. the only limit i saw was that you can only have 9 folders(buttons in the menu), BUT each folder can contain as many items as you like, upto the limits of SL(255). kudos, keep up the goodness! The only suggestion i have is to add a 'lock all'/'unlock all' set of buttons.
