After a piece by Louis-Joseph Le Lorrain for Parisian wealthy financier this "bureau de cartonnier" (currently at the Chateau de Chantilly) is considered to be the first piece of furniture "á la Grec" made of ebony marquetry is decorated with bronze greek motifs on a frieze supported by eight legs ending on Lion claws and interlaced therebetween with folliate garlands. A large mount on the front depicts a Lion head, the animal par excellence, all toped with a rich red leather surface.

The "Gout á la Grec" (1750s to late 1760s) as the early neoclassical style was called, was inspired by the ancient Greece, straight lines and full volumes that were combined with motives taken from the ancient, as well as floral or figurative elements such as the figure of Goats or Lions become very prominent, this avant-garde style became the latest fashion among Upper classes in Paris but somehow ignored at the court of Versailles, where the rococo curves perdured longer until the arrival of a more "pure" louis xvi style

This is such a gorgeous table! Nobody in SL can do the little ornate details of rococo, baroque, and Victorian furniture! I love the heaviness of this table, it's a very prominent piece in any room from the black and gold to the red top. I love it! I hope that this store will make this item, it is so beautiful and only this store could make it properly!
