Wear both the "hip" and "hand" units. To use the tricorder after these are both worn, type:
/33 draw
In open chat.
To return it to your hip, type:
/33 holster
In open chat.
Click the tricorder while it is in your hand to turn on the "scan" feature. This is a radar that will pick up any avatar within 96 meters. Avatar ranges and names will be displayed in hovertext above the unit. To turn the scan off, either holster the tricorder, or click it again.
This tricorder is also RPCS (Role Play Clue System) enabled. It unlocks the "Use Tricorder" function on clues that have this feature available in them. Simply click on the clue while you are holding the tricorder, and click the "Use Tricorder" button in the menu. This is only enabled when the Tricorder is "Drawn"
** Internal Scripts are COPY/NO MOD/NO TRANSFER. Tricorder Objects are COPY/MOD/NO TRANSFER.
The main RPCS System is offered separately... this is ONLY the Tricorder.

A very good tool.
I have been using this tool as a Role Playing (RP) prop for my character for a few weeks now.
When you draw it out of the holster, it sounds good and does list name of nearby avatar. You also have the possibility of turning the sound off so that it doesn't get annoying by clicking the tricorder. RP wise, it serves the need of looking like you are scanning something.
However, their use can be increased in RP by using the scripts in clues, object that are in the environment, that allows the wearer to get hints that team member without tricorders can't have. For example, a pool of blood will "look like it is a pool of blood" to someone using their senses (sight), "feel wet" (touch) and may "taste like blood" for those willing to take the risk (taste), but using the tricorder, you can know the blood type, specie and other specific data regarding that blood (as specified by the game master prior starting the Role Playing game).
In conclusion, for the price, it is a very good tool by itself (without using scripts), looks good as is, and is an even better tool when scripts are used in objects of the environment to RP an investigation scene before starting that RP.
Good job and thank you.
