Because these adaptations performed poorly in the field, a dedicated vehicle appeared to fill the role.
Built around a new chassis formula and engine, it was designated Recovery type III.
During construction, the prototype was informally known as the Scorpion.
Scorpion became the adopted name which stayed with all in the series.
Despite being of utilitarian construction, an affectation was added, being a gas cut steel Scorpion emblem which was welded onto the front of each vehicle.
