This is the closest thing I could make to the real life counterpart. This Smoke / Fire detector is first and foremost made to be easy to operate and setup. Unlike other systems, you can simply rez this device, and forget it... that is until the battery starts to get low... you might have to change the battery once in a while (or not).
The primary feature is to detect fire and smoke used by roleplayers across the grid. It is compatible with both HD Fire System, and TredPro TPF. Once at least one fire is detected within range, the alarm will sound until the fire(s) has been extinguished.
The detection range can be adjusted up to 20 meters away. Included in the box is a tool to measure and visualize the distance, that will help you adjust the range to your specific needs.
The detection is also directional. The sensor can only detect fires in one side of it (facing forward, or downwards depending if on a wall or a ceiling). This allows you to set it in a way that will only detect fires within a floor/level, or only on one side of a wall. This prevents activations when fires are at a different location.
It has an optional and adjustable simulated battery system. 4 battery lifespan settings to choose: Short (1 to 4 months), Medum (4 to 8 months), Long (8 to 12 months), and Infinite. The battery life is slightly randomized to prevent all fire alarms from draining equally. When set to Infinite, the battery system is disabled, and will never drain. When the battery level reaches 20% or lower, the device will chirp every minute to alert of the low battery. The battery can be replaced at any time by any person, regardless of the access setting... so if you forget, or you dont come by to replace it, someone else can. Since we know the battery aspect is what makes it fun and interesting, the battery level can be instantly changed to a low battery state or to drain the battery. This would allow some roleplay scenarios to happen without waiting for the battery to drain.
Other features are Access setting for On/Off operation, and adjustable sound volume.
The device is 100% mesh, both PBR and legacy materials enabled. Script is self-contained, and the device can be linked to buildings and other objects without any glitches. Included in the box are 5 colors to choose from. The device can be changed into any color using the viewer build feature. It is half to 1 land impact when linked. Less land impact if linked to non-scripted objects.
Script is made with lag in mind. Attention was put into making the detector be reasonable with region resources.
