Mayan Codex Of Dresden- Resizable - 2 Included & Easel BOXED
TWO books are included in the box.
How to describe this amazing artifact briefly is a daunting task. The Dresden Codex is one of the most valuable sources for understanding the Maya culture. This manuscript was one of the most important keys for the decipherment of the Mayan hieroglyphic writing. Furthermore, the most beautiful and famous figures of the Maya gods also arise from this codex, It was made between A.D. 1200-1250, written by 8 different scribes. It is linked to the Yucatecan Maya in Chichén Itzá, the extraordinary ancient Mayan city situated in the north of the Yucatán Peninsula.
One of the worldwide three existing mayan codices to survive the book burnings by the Spanish Conquistador’s in 1521.It turned up in Dresden in 1739, and suffered damage there during World War II.
The original contains 78 pages, I have included 29 here, in conventional book form. This book includes sounds upon opening, closing and page turning. Because I made this no copy, I included two. In case theres any errors resizing the first.
Only resize when book is closed, and by clicking the spine. . It can be made huge as a house to handheld size and everything inbetween.
When open, clicking the right side changes the page, clicking the left closes the book. The tempation to enhance and repair was resisted, to keep it authentic. This is a truly fascinating piece of history of museum quality, the content of which still continues to astound .
The cover features my favorite God, Quetzalcoatl, also referred to as Kukulcan, the feathered serpent.
It contains art, astronomical, historical, and religious records .It contains calendrical data, written in the Mayan dating system, concerning astronomical data and the sky mechanics, with exceptional accuracy, next to the hieroglyphic texts and numerous depicturings of the Mayan gods and ritual scenes. It contains a ceremonial calendar for the different gods, the famous tables of solar and lunar eclipses and tables for calculating the movements of the planets Venus and Mars, as accurately as we can today.
Fitting for any museum, library, gallery, or your personal ancient artifcat collection. Woud be perfectly at home in Mexico of course, or any MesoAmerican or Aztec themed build. Contains references, if you can decipher them, to the end of the Mayan calendar in December of 2012.
