Based on the 1918 design of Danish naval architect Gerhard Rønne, Runa IV is our first mesh multi-masted yacht. The Trudeau Runa IV has a full compliment of luffing "Trusails" - jib, staysail, main, mail topsail and mizzen. She has a full well-appointed cabin for relaxing and lounging belowdecks.

You can find all about her here: https://trudeauyachts.wordpress.com/2017/08/12/the-mystical-runa/

Amazing sailboat - meh animations
full star full star full star full star full star Posted August 22, 2022 by EminyRoddenham

This is my favorite Trudeau, she sails beautifully, I've never had a sim crash with this one (probably dumb luck). Her design is gorgeous and easy to modify.

The animations on this boat and the others from this creator are disappointing. The captain cannot access the ship's cabin animations without standing, hence losing the boat if you are sailing alone. A huge damper. She still gets 5 stars for being one of the best sailing vessels in SL.

One of my favorates

I love the attention to detail that was put into this boat. It's quite obvious that someone put a lot of love into this build. This isn't what I would consider a starter boat as it requires a fair understanding of how sailing works in real life. With stronger winds you will find you need to reef the sails and even lower the mizzen if you want to make any progress and not sit there heeled over on your side for example. I've found that the boat loves light winds (10-15kts) and will zip along quite well when trimmed up. All 3 sails (jib, main, mizzen) can be trimmed and raised/lowered independently via hud. There are 2 huds however and one allows you to trim/raise/lower them all in unison if wish. The boat has inverted steering set as the default but this can along with a few other settings can be changed via a simple config notecard in the boat. Simply change the value as shown and it steers like a car.
There's also lots of very well done custom textures out there to truly make it your own.
The ONLY thing I would change is that turning is not based off the speed of the boat and can be turned at a dead stop. This is really only noticeable when sitting still of course. Otherwise the boat behaves like the RL version. I'm thoroughly enjoying it and wish to give Jacqueline my personnel thanks for this wonderful boat. I'm looking forward to seeing what else she comes out with.

Like the title says, its just another Trudeau, and what does that mean?
Expert craftmanship, faithful reproduction of a classic, superb realistic handling, amazing eye for details and countless hours feeling the seaspray on your face as you sail this beautiful boat.

Just another Trudeau.....just another piece of naval history made art

I will not talk much about the details that are best and amazing and that give you the sense that you are in real life with the flow and smooth sailing reality .. After experiencing many and many boats in the second life and sailing for a long time .. After the experience of Trudeau 12 meters that prompted me to acquire the boat Trudeau Runa IV i can tell with Trudeau you can feel True sailing and full experience .. thats not just words ... you can try and see .
thank you again Jacqueline .

Not So Tippy

This is as I expected, and why I was looking forward to this release, because by breaking up the sail area over more sails, you end up with shorter booms that do not end up with the ends going into the water when the boat leans over.

Simply a Masterpiece

This has to be one of the very best boats in SL for sailing.

Years of refinement in the Trudeau line have resulted in what is arguably the finest classical yacht in SL right now. Sim crossing is smooth, handling is easy and intuitive and even the sounds are rich and mellow.

The Runa is truly beautiful - lines, sail plan, textures and fittings are all recreated with extraordinary care, skill, patience and an obvious deeply-felt love for sailing. All of these harmonize with each other rather than compete for your attention.

IMHO, Trudeau yachts have a quietly elegant, "analog" feel; the textures are warm and soulful, and everything is beautifully balanced. There is no plethora of "working features" that seems to degrade the actual sailing experience (especially sim crossing) with some other non-Trudeau boats. There is no need to subconsciously "brace" yourself for audible and visual "jarring" at sim crossings with the Runa, You stay relaxed and smiling while the "flow" remains almost unbroken.

Yes, there are other boats that allow more poses and have more things to click open and closed, and that's undoubtedly fun. But, at least in my opinion, no one beats Trudeau for immersing you in the pleasure of virtual sailing, and for me, this is the best Trudeau boat yet.
