Achi
ACHI is a game from Ghana for 2 players. It starts similarly to noughts-and-crosses, or tic-tac-toe, and is played by placing 8 'stones' in a grid of 3x3 'holes'.
Each player has 4 stones, in this product coloured red & green, and takes it in turns to place a stone in one of the wooden holes. The aim is to make a line of 3 (rank, file or diagonal). If a win is not made when all stones are placed, players select a stone in turn to move into the remaining adjacent vacant hole, along one of the marked lines. More distant stones cannot be moved.
Play continues until either a win is made or a player cannot move. In some versions of the game, the latter situation is resolved by that player missing a turn. If you want that option, you can select the 'timed turns' option from the menu. Otherwise, the game has a 'timed reset' (default) no-move time-out.
To reflect the cultural origin of the game, the base is textured in Ghana hardwood, with a Kente cloth frame, and the board & stones use the colours of the national flag.
