+ 10 land impact
+ LOD resistant
+ Low lag
+ SOLID MESH!
+ 9,32x13,05 m
+ Rustic stone cottage
+ Two floors

The Caldbeck Cottage 02 made quite a stir when I first presented it. It's only 13x9.3 m but surprisingly spacious. It has lots of lovely details you won't usually find in SL houses, the molding, the rafters, the ten movable window shutters... and still it's only 10 LI. Yes, that's right. The OPQ Caldbeck Cottage 02, with all its lovely features only takes ten of your precious prim allowance.
Normally a house like this would require at least 50 prims, probably more like 100. But this wonderfully detailed mesh work uses less of your prim quota than most traditional "plywood box with house textures painted on" style entry level houses. Other builders are still trying to figure out how this is possible but there is no big secret really. It's all about understanding how mesh works in SL and learning and using *all* the tricks and techniques we have to make our builds as efficient as possible.
It's low lag too, using only Bel's Low Lag scripts and with a render weight of only 6566. This cottage is light enough you can safely use it as a "sim filler" but detailed enough you'd be more than happy to make it your home.

About the Caldbeck Series
Chin Rey's Caldbeck series of houses is named after a sim in the Hidden Lake District of Sansara, right south of OPQ's headquarters in Coniston and Kewsick.
The RL Caldbeck is famous for its stone buildings and that has become the main theme of the OPQ series too: solid, good old fashioned stone houses perfect for the English countryside. However, through the wonderful miracle of retexturing, the Caldbeck houses have proved themselves surprisingly flexible, fitting right into settings as different as late medieval and wild west!

A tight quality build. Well well worth it.

Whether you've got a small plot and stretching the prims for all they are worth for your own self or if you've got SL family in need of an incredibly low land impact guest home to stay in, it just doesn't get any better than this. 10 land impact? Yet even features detailed working shutters complete with lil rusted hinges. Factor in the price and I'm floored.

Yes it isn't a mansion but your basic SL necessities are easily covered. I love that its modify so I can retexture if I so desire but really not much need as the textures are already pretty good. Like the description says you can make it bigger by resizing just don't do it too much if you want the steps to not be blown out of proportion. This cottage could even make a nice lil starter shop if you wanted.

Upon entry I was instantly pleased with the fact that it doesn't use that same lame generic door sound alot of builders in SL seem to be obsessed with. Close cam inspection upon the walls reveal no seams or annoying texture flicker to speak of. If only other builders would go by this example.

For the quality craftsmanship, the ridiculously low land impact, and the price I can only reap praise upon the builder for such a fine lil home. One of my absolute best purchases in my 4 years in SL at this time. I highly recommend this high quality and yet economically friendly lil cottage.
