~AP~ Ibexian Gem of Gentle Dreams - pendant

This gem was created for the Nisa and Ibex Empire and other related MLP rp. Can be modified to fit human avs.

Every town, village, or city has that one child that just can't sleep because of nightmares and so keeps everyone else up... Perhaps the reader is one as sometimes this malady strikes adults too...

Utilizing the same compound stone as the Gem of Meditative Rest, the Gem of Gentle Dreams however is set in only silver or left unset. It is shaped either in cabochons or in geode slabs which are inscribed with the lettering in the shell script form of kanji for "Gentle Dreaming" and sometimes a yet older runic form of unknown origin that has been passed down. When set in silver it is generally augmented with a silver crescent moon facing outward on each side.

Desperate mothers have been known to procure these for those babies that just will not sleep. The author notes that she herself once affixed one to her own restless foal when her foal's nightmares were too bad to allow anyone (so it seemed) in the Brewer's Lanes any sleep whatsoever for what felt like months. Whether due to the power of suggestion or not after the pendant was made for the foal everyone slept much better including said foal.

The legend goes that far back in ancient times there was a mother that was desperate for sleep for her and her foal. The little one had terrible nightmares so bad that he routinely suffered severe heart palpitations and seizures due to his lack of proper rest. The condition only worsened as time went on an no priest, shaman, healer, or witch doctor could come up with something to cure that child or ward off what surely was the most horrible of yokai known to kirin, ibex, pony, or dragonkind. Desperate for something to help she set off, carrying her child with her, to make a visit to each and every crystal shrine in the land in the hope that perhaps this final ditch effort would yield results as the worry was driving her mad. It was night time when she arrived at the crystal hot springs and the moon rode high, full, and blue. In this time the area around this spring was more amenable to overnight camping, and so she set up camp with the intent to take the foal into the spring with her at first light since she was too tired to do so right then. The tears of frustration fell to the ground and onto one of the crystals... the light caught just so... a ripple went through the lands of the Old Empire... There on the ground lay the first of these Gems, already set, two crescents on the side of one heavenly round the color of the moon's light that night. Ever after these stones were able to be mined near water sources.

These are so highly prized that they are often passed down for generations. Usually they are very small, but the larger one is the more highly it can be sold for. The stone itself can be ground down and has been known to be used in sleep elixirs that work well but are necessarily very expensive.
