Truthfully this item is not a single stone. The outer stone is a translucent blue while the inner is a vibrant purple. The more healthy this composite stone is the more the inner stone glows. From the outside once cut and polished, usually in a cabochon, it look as if it is only one purplish stone unless closely inspected. Often they are set with both gold and silver to harness both yin and yang so that the wearer does not become unbalanced and overly dreamy.

These are not exceedingly rare, but they are rare enough to make them highly prized. Normally these are used by scholars to increase their ability to focus while studying or by artists to help stimulate their creativity. They are also useful to those that want to order their thoughts. They are useful to the warrior though to stimulate foresight and an ability to maintain more stable thought in extreme circumstances. Thus those of the scholar-warrior caste are often issued these on completion of their training. They can, however, be bought by those outside the scholarly, artistic, or scholar-warrior castes by those that have proper funding or know the right channels to go through.

It is to be noted that these do not make one an Einstein, but only work to help unlock and nurture what is already there. All that is needed is a seed for this gem to work with. The more rapport the owner has with the stone the more prominent the effects. The pony that only sees the material beauty and is not open to working with the stone only holds a bauble until it is passed to someone that has the questing mind.
