Curtiss JN-4

The Curtiss JN-4 "Jenny" was one of a series of "JN" biplanes built by the Curtiss Aeroplane Company of Hammondsport, New York, later the Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Company. Although the Curtiss JN series was originally produced as a training aircraft for the U.S. Army, the "Jenny" (the common nickname derived from "JN-4", with an open-topped four appearing as a Y) continued after World War I as a civil aircraft, as it became the "backbone of American postwar civil aviation." Thousands of surplus Jennys were sold at bargain prices to private owners in the years after the war and became central to the barnstorming era that helped awaken America to civil aviation through much of the 1920s.

The "Jenny" is also one of my absolute favorites. It is build mostly in the same way as my Stampe SV4 but is not comparable with that plane. this Jenny does not behave the same way as my Stampe.

Inside the crate of this plane is a fully detailed flight manual explaining you how to fly this simple but fun plane.

Enjoy!

I bought it many years ago and now use it to give people air tours of the Bellisserian coastline. I own many aircraft - but this will always be my favorite.

I am so glad that someone has done this plane. It truly is a piece of the American aviation past. Well done and fun to fly. I just wish there were more paint options for this one. Like a mail career or a barnstorming paint or something. Blue Skies! ☻

The Curtiss Jenny was a trainer in world war I and she fulfills that job perfectly in SL. Very good plane for a beginner pilot or someone just wanting to be surrounded by a sound vintage aircraft. Being modifiable is a huge plus. No reason not to get this plane. A steal at 99L.
