[Fairport] Kyoketsu Shoge
=======================
Real Life History and Specs:

Type of weapon: Chained multi-purpose weapon
Origin: Japan
Time period: Unknown first appearance, though sometime before 1336 AD; weapon still in use in some martial arts schools present day

The kyoketsu shoge can be translated roughly to "run about in the fields and mountains;" the history of the name is unknown. The weapon itself, though sometimes chained, is generally connected either by a thin flexible rope or a very tightly weaved length of horse hair; the length of the connection between the two main pieces of the weapon varied from 12 to 18 feet generally. The weapon itself is a unique and unusual looking dagger that has two blades, (the second protruding from the side and generally being curved downward in an almost upside-down-U-shape,) with said rope or chain attached to the bottom of the dagger, the rope or chain being tied or attached to a metal ring. This ring varied in style depending on who produced it and it's intended purpose. More fighting-oriented kyoketsu shoge would have a thick and weighted ring, this would make smacking, swinging, and bashing more effective whereas more tool-oriented versions would have a thinner less-weighted ring. The kyoketsu shoge had many uses as both a weapon and a tool. It could be used as a grappling hook, the blade thrown onto the edge of a building the user then putting his or her foot into the ring tied to the rope or chain and then pulling themselves up via the rope or chain. It could be used defensively by swinging the chained ring to ward off potential attackers, it could be used by those very experienced and trained to even disarm and remove weapons from enemies or entangle them, the blade itself could be used to slash, stab, and cut enemies; it has been recorded that some ninjas used the weapon to wait in trees above enemies then discretely lower the dagger end of the weapon under a target's throat and quickly yank up killing them. Some martial arts schools still train with this weapon, though functional versions of the kyoketsu shoge tend to be hand made by knife and sword specialists and quite expensive these days, display and training models are more readily available to collectors and enthusiasts.

**PLEASE MAKE SURE BOTH PARTS ARE WORN***

**Please note, if you wish to damage, make sure you are enabled in damage mode; ie: if you are in push mode switch to damage by using the 'enable damage mode' command. There are three settings for damage once you have enabled this mode: low, high, fatal. Damage is determined by the mass of your enemy. That's right, the larger or smaller your enemy avatar's mass alters the amount of damage one can do to them in a Linden damage zone. On average, however, low does about 7-13% damage on a hit, high does 30-40% on a hit, and fatal does 80-100% damage on a hit.

Set low on damage mode: low

Set high on damage mode: high

I have been using this weapon for some time on a different account (bought as a gift so unable to leave a reply) but decided to buy it again so I can write this review.

The weapon itself is not bad, its an interesting style of weapon and the only one of its style I know of on the market. Once drawn using the chat commands, it is great fun to flail about with, or simply stand around in the combat ready pose.

Given the price, I'd say you can't go wrong, its well worth it!
Only minor negative thing I can think of is that you need to use both channel 72 and 0 to draw it. Given that I mostly use it in a roleplay setting, I try to keep talk on the visible channel down. But aside from this minor thing, I'm very happy!
