In his novel "Snow Crash", Neal Stephenson first described the "Gargoyle." This was the street name for an intelligence agent who spent his days wired to the hilt: wearable computers and communications equipment, and goggles so he could be logged into the Metaverse at all times.
My Gargoyle line is a re-interpretation of Stephenson's concept into the realm of post-apocalyptic SteamPunk. High tech powered by miniturized steam motors.
These Goggles include a HUD for easy control. They can be raised or lowered, and the scanning laser can be turned on and off. The laser *actually* scans Avatars when you focus it upon them- the HUD displays their profile picture, name, rez-date, if they are wearing scripted attachments and if they are set to Away or Busy.
