I went searching for a decent hanging cage to buy, and as often happens I just could not find what I wanted. So I made my own and proudly present them to you.

These are 100% original mesh, lovingly made in Blender. They are designed *not* to vanish at a short distance away, and to have good detail up close where you can see it while still retainging a reasonable Land Impact. Edges are rounded with custom normals for proper corner shading... things like that. They look good, and stay looking good at a distance. Advanced lighting highly recommended (will be compulsory soon when LL makes the changes to the system).

The cages have functioning doors, you can click the lock to open and close them. The physics is properly made and can hold an avatar inside when the door is closed. The chain can be unlinked if you prefer, and the hook can be hidden.

All cages are supplied in two LOD versions, Low LOD (LoL - don't laugh) and High LOD (HiL). Most people will only ever need the LoL version, and it is 1 Land Impact lower. At Firestorm's LOD default of only 2, you will not see any difference between the two types within 60m distance. That covers just about any inside-a-room use.

If you want to use them outside and see them from across a region, the HiL version does look a little better at >60m away. To be honest though you really have to look carefully. Both versions still look like a cage at any distance... no turning to a mess of triablges or vanishing (until you draw distance is reached).

Eight textures are supplied; you really do need advanced lighting to see them at their best.

If you are into modding things (like me) you can drop in an AVsitter setup and even configure it to tell the door to open and close from the AVsit NC using link messages.

The LoL version is 3 LI without the chain, and HiL is 4 LI. The highly detailed chain adds 1 LI.

Of course, the cages are mod/copy (except the scripts and contents as usual).
