Welcome to the “Isabela” - the Isabela Class is not a typical Spanish Galleon by construction, but rather a Pinas-Ship of Dutch origin (a later, more developed type of Galleon). Its key features are its particularly low draft, allowing it to enter even shallow harbours, and its high masts. The hull construction is more homogeneous compared to older Galleon types, as both the forecastle and the quarterdeck are well incorporated into the overall hull. Ships of this type were in use between 1620 and 1720, roughly, and served the most various purposes. The Isabela-Class has 32 guns, and is well suited to privateering, trading and even serving as a warship in a naval context.
The entire ship is made of handcrafted and all original mesh design. You can walk around the main gundeck, quarterdeck and forecastle. The sitter system allows you to take the helm as well as many other positions around the ship, including gunner, rigging, captain's cabin and bunk-bed and many more. While only the helmsman can control the rudder, other crew-members can trim, set and clew the sails or operate the artillery. You can crew-operate the ship or fully control it solo.
The "Isabela" is brought to life by a completely new and highly realistic sailing engine, intended to simulate the experience of handling a square-rigged ship. The sail trim does not only affect the propulsion, but the torque/turning too. It is possible to steer the ship by sails only, as you could do on a real-world sailing ship. Furthermore, each sail can be set and clewed individually, giving you full control of the sheet. Wind direction and speed can be set much like in other engines and you can also use WWC wind setting. Furthermore, our own Tradewinds is included, a preset varying wind database, that makes sailing even more realistic. Real world tallship sailors have described the engine as "just like the real thing".
The ship uses its own unique combat system - it is not SPD compatible! We decided against using SPD and in favor of creating our own system for the fact that our approach does not require you to be in a rez enabled area to work, so you can fight anywhere. Because of the "Isabela's" realistic scale and movement, the available rez enabled areas in current SL oceans would simply be too small to allow for decent combat.

I bought the galleon yesterday. I like the boat very much. High quality of the optics and many great poses. Nevertheless, there are 3 things that unfortunately dampen the game pass a bit. First, it is not Modify.Do you also buy RL stuff that you can't edit? Second, I'm missing some adjust buttons for the Poses that came with the Reaper Brig, for example. The galleon is only up and down. Too little. Lastly, a rocking animation for mooring would be a nice idea. It would make the boat feel less static. Other than that, this ship is a very good job.
An excellent galleon ship !!!
If you are looking for a galleon ship, you have just found the right ship, the best of second life. It is super complete, has great animations, very realistic navigation and it's possible to customize its texture colors, name, flag...not to mention the combat system that is very good, I'm happy with my purchase and I recommend it to everyone !!!
Best ship I have ever sailed in on SL.
and that is saying something since I usually build my own, but this ship is like nothing I could do, there is non better, and the ability to fight anywhere is the greatest bonus. Well done to NK and all its Ship Wrights.
