The Polacre (also known as Polacca) was a type of sailing vessel very similar to the Xebec, sharing the same hull design, but has a square-rigged main mast in place of the Xebec's lateen. The most common version has three single-pole masts, with a lateen hoisted on the foremast (which is slanted forward to accommodate the large lateen yard) and a gaff or lateen on the mizzen mast. The mainmast was square rigged on the European style. The Polacre was frequently seen in the Mediterranean at the beginning of the 18th century, protecting the shipping routes of Venice from the Dalmatian, Greek & Turkish pirates. It was also eventually used as merchant ship.
Battle:
This ship is specifically designed for Pirate and Naval War games, so it's SPD compatible and includes ZuCS Combat System statistics. The SSS Polacre has 23 hitpoints of structure strength; it can be damaged by cannonballs fired from compatible ships and land cannons, as well by colliding with land and objects and ships. In those cases it shows progressive damage, and it can be repaired using the Repair Depot unless the ship is incapacitated because too many holes in it (3 HPs left). She has 12 aimable cannons loaded with both Round and Explosive shots; they can be served by the captain and/or two gunners, from the ship itself and/or by using the Gun HUD. Effects includes sounds, progressive damage on sails and ropes, foam, animated rudder and sails, smoke, explosion and floating remains the shipwrecked crew can use to swim.
- The SSS Polacre is copiable and physically modifiable.
- Its optimized for Mouselook, but it can operate on Normal View.
- Sails set is automatically worn when boarding the ship (just one set is used for both static and active modes).
- It is driven by the wind (it is based on the Flying Tako scripts by Kanker Greeacre).
- Turn speed depends on the ship speed, so kedge anchors were included.
- 23 hitpoints of structure strength.
- 2 camera settings for the captain.
- 2 camera settings for the gunners.
- Iron angle is 38 degrees (lateen sails only) or 45 degrees (square sails raised).

Old Old Old
Yeah, it was ok in 2015 ... but it just doesn't cut it now. Most of the spd ships now are a little ...blah. Nobody seems interested in making something more cutting edge. I would rather sail one of Roxanne's old ships, if I'm going to sail something old, may as well sail something old that's good.

Great ship!
I purchased this a long time ago and have just recently begun to learn the art of sailing. This ship provides a nice balance of offensive/defensive power and good handling. It looks great right out of the box, but if you are a texture junkie like me you'll want to personalize it. A great all around ship!
A very fine vessel and huge fun
I've sailed a good selection of SPD ships over the years; this is one of my favourites. Great balance between manoeuvrability and destructive (I mean defensive of course) power. It is great for modifying or just sailing straight out of the box; looks great; has some lovely touches; and I love the sail rig, which makes it a challenge to sail really well but easy to sail if you are not too worried about getting optimum speed. Another top class vessel from SSS. See ye on the water...or maybe in it!

Fantastic Ship!
I'm not the best sailor but this ship is so easy to handle. Responds well, the effects are first rate, and one has the option to modify to their personal tastes, though it is beautiful as is. There's just something about a ship with square sails that looks so fine on the water.
I had a question and the creator's response was quick and helpful. Always a plus for the buyer.
