Solar System
This Solar System (non-orbiting) model is designed to show the relative distances of the planets from the Sun and relative sizes & spin rates compared to the Earth, but not to the same scales, which would be impracticable. All the data is stored in a notecard in the model's content and can therefore be updated or changed by the owner. The global scales for distances, sizes & spins can all be changed by three numbers in the model's object description. In the default scales the model is just over 30m long, and Jupiter is just over 2m in diameter.
The scripts (copy permission), which are also supplied separately for convenience, can be used for making new fictional systems. All that is needed is a control prim, the appropriate number of spherical prims, and the chosen textures - the control script sets all the distances, sizes, axis tilts and spins automatically according to the data supplied.
The model is recommended for schools, lecture demonstrations, and exhibitions. Demonstration on request.
