The Very Big Telescope is modelled loosely on the unit telescopes of the Very Large Telescope on Cerro Paranal in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Very_Large_Telescope). The scale is approximately full size, the base being 26m in diameter, and the full height nearly 20m.
The model features door & dome control of the observatory, altitude & azimuth control of the telescope, and a 'laser check' showing the light path.

As the full structure has a high land impact, owners have the option of either automatic assembly, where the whole model is rezzed from the base, or manual assembly where the 6 link sets can be rezzed individually with simple positioning instructions. The link sets are:
• Observatory base (LI 12)
• Turntable (LI 77)
• Gallery & steps (LI 41)
• Wall & track (LI 4)
• Telescope (LI 21)
• Dome (LI 4)

Access to the VBT controls can be set by the owner to Public, Group or Owner.

Demonstration on request.
