The Avtomat Kalashnikova AKA "AK-47" is the most widely recognized and mass produced rifle of the
modern era, and has seen use in pretty much every major war/conflict since its production. The rifle
itself is incredibly efficient and fairly reliable even in some of the most adverse environments. It is the
weapon of choice for many fighters around the world, and continues to see use to this day. The VelTec
reproduction has been produced to be optimally efficient and reliably effective in the modern LLCS
combat theater.

The AK-47 is about as bog-standard a weapon you can get in a game, and that extends to here, but this is as good of a recreation of one as any in SL, and it's got some neat features beyond just being a model that spawns a projectile when you click. The modeling, textures, sounds, and effects are all the quality you'd expect from Vel-Tec (they're good!), and it even includes a few built-in customization options in the form of an attachable scope, suppressor, two firing modes, and four ammo types. What's interesting about the firing modes (semi and auto) is that they actually affect weapon accuracy, which isn't pinpoint perfect, so you've actually got a reason to use them. I don't think the suppressor has any mechanical effects, nor does the scope have any downsides in exchange for it improving accuracy, but I greatly enjoy the concept of having there be a decision-making process for how you want to configure your weapon, needing to weigh the pros and cons of each bit instead of there being an objective best setup.

Of course, that's a lot to ask for a weapon on SL, and this one's completely free. Besides, the creator of this clearly didn't want to upset Mikhail Kalashnikov's ghost by allowing you to festoon it in awful polymer nonsense. (Would be nice to have modify perms, though...)
