Dixon Nipper - 1911
This aircraft, designed and built by H.S. Dixon in 1911, was of a distinctly uncommon design, with an unusual canard pusher configuration around a boat-shaped body.
The leading plane was formed by a small biplane with a considerable angle of incidence. Extending out from the gap of this leading plane were the two halves of a monoplane elevator, which was controlled by a universally pivoted lever in front of the pilot's seat.
With a wingspan of 8 mts. and powered by an Advance V4 engine (delivering around 25 Hp.), the Nipper was capable to fly, but crashed and was completely wrecked in an accident at Acton Aerodrome.
A non-flying replica of this machine was specially made for the 1965 film Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines, and dubbed "Little Fiddler".
