Love beautiful sailing yachts but can't sail? With WindLock, you can sail any yacht from The Mesh Shop, the Bandit fleet, or the Isard family almost as if it were a motorboat.* Set the wind once, point where you want to go, and the sails stay full - through tacks, gybes, harbour manoeuvres, full-tilt reaches across open water. The boat performs, you steer.
*The Laser One and Ghost 17 need manual adjustment to find their sweet spot.
WHAT IT DOES
• Set wind once, sails stay full as you turn - automatically
• Click anywhere on the ring to set wind angle relative to your bow
• 90° no-go zone protects you from setting wind dead ahead
• Auto-tracks heading and updates wind continuously as you turn
• Works on The Mesh Shop, Bandit and Isard fleets
• Auto-detects protocol on sit - TMS, BWind 2.5, or Isard GLW
• Mode persists across sessions
• Six wind speeds per protocol, switchable in a tap
• Built-in autopilot toggle
• Long-press the autopilot button to resync if state drifts
• Pause button for race wind or to hand over the helm
• Includes top-down view docking aid
CONTROLS
• Cardinal ring: tap anywhere on the visible ring to set wind direction
• Wind tab: orange marker shows current relative wind angle
• Speed buttons: tap any of six values to set wind speed
• Mode button: tap to cycle TMS → BWind → GLW; auto-detects on sit
• Autopilot: tap to toggle; long-hold to resync local state
• Pause button: tap to pause / resume WindLock
• Tracker: tap for top-down view (lights cyan while active)
• Active on attach - no setup required
INSTALLATION
1. Wear the HUD - drag it anywhere on screen (defaults to Bottom Left)
2. Sit on any compatible boat
3. Sail
That's it. No notecards, no scripts to drop into your boats, no channel configuration. WindLock auto-detects the protocol and talks to your boat on the right channel.
COMPATIBILITY
Works across The Mesh Shop, Bandit, and Isard fleets - from small dinghies and traditional Basque ketches to J-Class racing yachts.
NOT FOR RACING
Organised Second Life races use enforced event wind set by race buoys, which override personal wind HUDs. WindLock is for sailors steering their own boats outside of organised competition - leisurely tours of the Blake Sea, full-tilt blasts across open water, and single-handing two-handed boats for the joy of it.
