Inspired by the 7.9m catamaran from Cheetah Marine, this is a small versatile catamaran intended for a variety of roles such as coastal survey, harbour master and patrolling.

It's been sensibly built to allow you to remove parts that you don't need or want so that you can modify it for crab/lobster catching, diving, fishing or just simple pleasure boating.

Like my other vehicles, it is minimally scripted and everything is there to ensure you get a reliable vehicle with a sense of the real thing. It is designed to be extremely modifiable and resilient to modding. The majority of the code can be modified too, since I believe in giving you as much flexibility for modding as I can.

So you won't find lots of features that aren't directly related to being a skipper. I don't add things that I personally would never/rarely use.

What you will find is a boat built to RL scale, with everything needed to simply go on a journey in something that looks and feels like a boat.

Briefly, the main features are:-

a) about 32/33 knot top speed in normal mode, about 41 knots in high speed mode

b) will rock about and crest off of imaginary waves when moving

c) rocking motion can be turned on/off when moored

d) an optional fuel system

e) can be guested to others

f) various moving/animated parts

g) navigation and mast lights work

h) a working light bar with a variety of colours, patterns and siren/horn sounds for people that like that sort of thing

i) and if you get it beached on land, expect it to stay there! (so don't get it beached!)

j) AVsitter ready versions are included, with a basic AVsitter installation

k) now supports the GFS fuel system

If you're taller than a RL human (about 6 feet) then you'll probably not be able to walk through the cabin door in to the cabin, the boat is rather small and SL doesn't give us the luxury of stooping to get through low doors. But the boat can be scaled up or down to fit you just fine :)

There are 2 versions included in the box, one with 2 seats and one with 4 seats. You can add/remove seats if you need to, the boat shouldn't complain.

The 2 seater was 60 land impact while the 4 seater was 62 land impact. It'll be lower now since LL changed the land impact calculation.

1.3.0 saw the addition of support for GFS and an improved AVsitter installation for modders

See the in world shop for a demo!

Great little ship!

Never had a "cat" before so I took a chance, glad I did. She handles sim crossing exceptionally well, I was quite impressed, the rocking animation and spray are great. True, as stated the cabin door might be a little small to get into for us folks on growth hormones, but simply click on the captain's chair, and yer ready to go. ( or mod it but I'm simply lazy, and wanted to sail...) Haven't ran outa fuel, or beached myself ( yet) Turns well, stops on a dime and sped is fantastic! Cant see anything wrong with her. Only wish? If she had a flag on her stern! Very good purchase!

Still one of my favorite boats in SL.

So much fun to drive and so easy on sim crossings.

Very user friendly boat, easily modded with extra poses via Avsitter, recommended.

I could tell this Marlin Catamaran is great from driving the demo and reading some of the notecard. The handling, performance, construction, the look and the documentation is all ideal for such a boat in this virtual world. Once I bought it and was looking at what comes with it, I found it keeps getting better. The 4 and 2 seat versions are both in this product. It comes with quick color change scripts, modification procedures, explanations, full-perms textures, modifiable hud and an extra door.

Nice Boat, but...

Unfortunately, without AVsitter and other poses, it's a bit useless. Otherwise very nicely done from the optics to the realistic driving physics

So Worth It!!

I'm ashamed to say, it's taken me until recently, to really get into any vehicles from RB. I know, I know, I'll ground myself, send myself to the corner and think about what I've done! =P I own, more boats then probably one person should, and I will go on record as saying, this, may in fact be my favorite (powered boat) of the lot! It handles as it should, has that great "heavy" feeling to it without being sluggish. It takes crossings like they're not even there, and speaking of crossings, I love the crossing counter, and wish more vehicles had this!
Being a vehicle painter, I will say there is something you've done that is, sadly too rarely seen from builders, and deserves an award for greatness on it's own - you supply PSD templates!! It may seem strange to some, and not that special to non painters, but to someone who has been working in vehicle design for 25 years, it's a blessing and very appreciated! So, thank you for that, and thank you for all of the outstanding work you do!!
