Aloha!
This is a statue of Queen Kapiolani, Queen of Hawaii from 1874 - 1891. It stands in Honolulu overlooking the beach at Waikiki.
Written on the base of the statue is, "Kulia I Ka Nu'u", which means "Strive for the highest".
A further plaque reads, "Wife of King David Kalakaua and founder of the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children, "The Queen who loved children" was a woman of commanding patience, of easy manner and quiet dispositions, ever kind, ever thoughtful of others, she dedicated her life to the well being of her people."
