Shǒu hù (守護) means "To Guard" in Mandarin, is a small "light class" ship, designed after the police boats that once cruised Mainland China's ports on the lookout for pirates, smuggling, and theft.
A powerful boat for her size, she is double ended with the traditional Chinese Lug sails, fenestrated rudder, and plenty of deck space to house crew and guns. This little guardian is a fast and manueverable boat and in the hands of a capable captain, more than able to inflict quite a bit of damage in battle.
While being a "light class" means she does not bring a lot of firepower to the battle, she is at her class maximum with 4 cannons, one aimed at each quarter to ensure that no enemy can sneak up on this little ship and so she can return any cannonballs no matter what angle they came from.
While built stronger than a gunboat, she is still less capable than your typical sloop. Only 14 points of damage separate her from victory or defeat in battle. A wily captain with a light hand on the tiller can make best advantage of her speed, size, and maneuverability, a ham fisted one will quickly turn her into a pretty coffin
