We built this as a feature in our role-play clinic at The Redux (2023). It is a nice iPad on a pole.
At first it was entirely just for role-play, but Trace pointed out that it COULD be useful with a few more lines of code.
So…
When clicked:
• it thanks the person who clicked it for checking in.
• send a message to the owner anywhere on the SL Grid saying who has checked in.
This actually could be handy for people running sims!
Overall, we think this is a fun little, good-looking prop that actually does something a little bit useful!
You Get:

• The item is set to give off a little "screen glow" local light. You'll have to "Edit linked" and find the component set to give off light if you want to change this.
• This version messages the OWNER. IM Allie Takeda if you'd like a more complex version that can be configured to message someone else.
Instructions:
1 Rez item in world.
2. Edit the item and go to contents.wd
3. Open the script and change the message.

You can change the name of it if you want, and the screens face is it's own mesh so it's easy to retexture and customize for .. whatever. If you're even remotely familar with modifying a script, you'll realize that at the top of the script, the line that reads: string message = " has checked-in at the clinic.";
IS the message the owner will receive when someone checks in, with the resident/legacy name of the resident checking in.
The line (21) that reads: llSay(0, detectedName + ", thank you. Your check-in is complete.");
IS the message the person who clicked it gets. You can type a longer message, like instructions or expectations, though I don't know how long, about two or three sentences seem to fit!
Lastly, I did reach out to the creator for a more complex one, to allow more receivers of the check in and an option to get a list of those who may have checked in when no one was online to get the message and the response was prompt!
