Working Digital Dash, Instrument Dials, Switches and Monitor Screen.

The Katana Floatplane can take off and land on the ground or on the water in either regular mode or wind mode. It can also taxi in and out of the water.

The Floatplane has an Automatic Landing system with a customizable notecard integrated into the HUD. You can either land at the 30+ airports listed in the HUD or add your own.
Once you choose your destination the plane will automatically descend to that airport. The system controls rate of descent and speed, you simply need to steer the plane left or right.

Altitude HUD. The plane will either automatically rotate and climb or descend and level to the altitude you choose.

4 Automatic Take Off modes - Left / Straight long field & short field / Right

Built-in automated wind system.

Selectable wind direction HUD.

Independent rudder control for correcting yaw.

2 Flight modes - Normal mode & Cruise mode

2 Flap modes, normal and fast sink rate.

Articulated flaps and nose gear.

To operate the wind system type "ww" (without parenthesis) in chat and then toggle the wind direction by typing "w" repeatedly until you find the wind direction you want. The wind direction is also shown in chat.

The plane will now fly as though there's a wind force on it. The wind system is active and changes force depending on the plane's orientation to the selected wind direction. If the wind is coming towards the plane at a 45 degree angle there will be a moderate change in speed as well as a cross-wind/sideslipping effect. And if the wind is coming directly at the side of the plane there will be a maximum amount of cross-wind/sideslipping effect.

The airplane's speed is affected by the force of the wind.

Chat Commands:

s - Start & Stop

e or Pg. Up - Acceleration
c or Pg. Dn - De-acceleration

f - Flaps

ff - Flaps for faster descent

a - Auto level

Canopy - Operated by touching the canopy

c - Second camera view

cc - Third camera view

fs - Phantom mode - allows you to fly through anything.

copilot - Typing "copilot" in chat will allow the copilot to control the plane.

pilot - Typing "pilot" in chat will allow the pilot to resume control of the plane.

ww - Wind - starts wind function

w - Toggles wind direction

sl - Strobe lights

bl - Beacon lights

nl - Nav lights

ll - Landing lights

Type "menu" for the texture changer. There are five different colors to choose from.

The plane is modifiable and there's a texture map for the fuselage, other parts can be modifed by selecting the independant faces of the object.

Yes, it doesn't look like much on first glance, but that's the charme of it.

It's small and cozy, and still flies very well, what more does one want :)

Possibly The Best Aircraft In SL

This is possibly the best aircraft in SL, for those who don't need to take passengers anywhere. Everything works as it should, sim crossings are smooth and stable, and it's easy to fly.
Sounds and animated components are first class, as are the flight characteristics.
The supplied texture templates make it easy to customise the plane, and make it look good (it actually looks a lot nicer in-world than it does in the images here).
This is now the second aircraft I own from the Java hangars, and it won't be my last. This is currently my favourite runabout aircraft in SL, with the BC Duke Float being my favourite small group transport (it carries an extra 4 passengers over this one).

I fly RL, and I confess that's made me picky concerning SL planes.
That in turn has resulted in dozens of planes that sit in inventory collecting dust.
This one, however, is a keeper.
First, the modeling and details are excellent, photo-realistic and perfectly emulate the RL Katana.
Believable operation, ie, articulated parts (gear, flaps, canopy, etc.) with operational lighting (nav, beacon, strobe, etc).
Water wake & spray particles make for totally believable movement through the water.
For those who appreciate added realism there's a cross-wind option that adds a familiar RL type challenge to take-offs and approaches...yeah, I love it.
For those who'd rather not think about all that there's auto take-off and landing options too...easy breezy!
The flight characteristics are believable although lacking stall and dive velocity variables (a common omission with SL planes), the good news is because of that omission the build remains script light and crosses sims amazingly well.
It's a floater WITH retractable gear, so...best of both worlds in one plane, right?..right.
It looks good, sounds good, operates on both land and sea, is a joy to fly, has top-shelf support.
I'm happy to recommend this plane.

This plane is really a nice small float plane that crosses sims nicely to boot! I just tested the automatic take-off and it's really cool too...still more to find out about this plane. I would recommend this plane.
