Authorization menu:
you can set who is allowed to use the catamaran. Authorization level can be set to: All, Avatar list, Group, Owner.
If yo choose Avatar access list, you can set a password and then avatars who knows the password can add themselves to the database (good if you have some alts, i.e.)
2 ways to do it: Chat commands and menu dialog
As it is copy and you can have more than one rezed, if you want to adjust all of them at once, use chat commands.
If you want to adjust only one, clic it and use menu.
You only give permission to use the boat, not to use the menu or chat commands, only owner can change the authorization level.
List of chat commands at the notecard included.
Menu will always adjust only one unit, even if you use chat command to pop up it. Each unit that are in range and receive the order will show its own menu dialog.
Any question IM Loco Rau :)
- Flying Tako sail boat
- carries 3 passengers and captain.
- Can be set to OWNER/GROUP/ALL/AVATARS LIST with password if desired.
- Uses SL wind
The interface is a little confusing and inconsistent.
The sheet visually moves to given angles depending on what inputs you provide, but it will also move because of the *wind* changing direction (which is to be expected, but there is no visual feedback on wind direction - no "windsock").
The foresail does not visually change angles, nor fill or fall with the wind, so that's confusing - even though the numeric display will show the sail having changed angles.
The numeric display will stay up, but not update, during motor operation -- potentially misleading you as to your direction or the wind availability.
Specifying sheet angle directly via chat commands, instructs the engine to move the sheet *by that amount of degrees*, **not** relative-to-ship or compass degree.
The numerical readout will show Heading as compass degree, but it will show wind as relative-to-ship ... *I think*, because it shows the wind angle as both positive and negative degree readings. Or, possibly, it's showing the wind angle as relative-to-sheet ... which ... I can't tell; When I took this out, the winds were very light and very variable, and I wound up using the motor function.
There's no water-cutting spray particle effect and no sound (at least, while I was operating), which is eerie / uncanny. There is some heel cant during turns -- but, at least when I was operating (under motor), the heel cant was slight.
This might be a perfectly serviceable catamaran for an experienced technical sailor (or team) under steady wind conditions; It's not a good first-time-user out-of-the-box experience.
The no-modify means that the lack of port/starboard lamps can't be rectified, either.
Looks, nice... but...
I am truly, puzzled. First, off... I see 5 5-star reviews, purportedly, but there are NO reviews, except for mine. Next, I read all the documentation on how to use this cat, and have absolutely no luck, whatsoever, with maneuvering. The WASD keys & arrow-keys, move the world around, while the cat goes straight ahead --rotating, within the view. At no point, does it change direction. I am a seasoned sailor, and yet, cannot sail, this cat.
