Thanks for your interest in my Off-Sim Rip Current!
If you have and island or property on the edge of a sim in Second Life, it looks like there is water off the edge but you normally cannot go there. Some people call this the Void Sea. Ocean engineering makes several vehicles that can take you off-sim and out there (kayak, canoe, jet ski, etc.). I also make waves and rocks that work off-sim with the vehicles. This rip current is an “off-sim extender” that you can place out there on the Void Sea to improve the view. But a rip current does not just sit there like a rock, it has a rippling moving surface, makes a roaring water sound, and if a vehicle gets too close it is pulled along by the current. A dialog allows you to position rip currents at different distances off-sim, change the size, direction, speed of the current and the volume of the sound.
If you would like to set up a water environment next to your skybox, the Rip Current will work at altitude. It can be set up on your water prim, or with SkyWater to help it find the same water level as other Ocean Engineering products up there.
If a White Water River pushes an off-sim vehicle onto the end of a Rip Current, the vehicle will be handed over and keep going off-sim! This would allow you to build a river that runs both off and on-sim! The off-sim rip current does not have to be in water, you can (for example) install it on top of a “dirt” prim at skybox altitude.
What you get: An object made out of two sculpties that looks like a rectangle of flowing water. It is COPYable so you can make as many of them as you want. (Well, there is a sim limit of around 40 of them). When rezzed it automatically finds the nearest sim edge and jumps 20 meters off-sim. You re-position it, change size and direction with the help of the built-in dialog.
No megaprims were used in the construction of Rip Current. The rip current does not work by “pushing” so it will work in no-push sims or parcels.
