Cast-Iron Lamp post in a classic 18th-19th century style, great for historical sims, steam-punk, or simply adding a touch of history and class to a modern environment.
Highly detailed baked materials in rusty and clean variations. Diffuse and Specular maps are designed to be tinted and properties adjusted to create a wide variety of metal or painted surfaces. Interior detail has been modelled to add realism to the glass and create lovely glow effects when turned on.
Low land-Impact, 3 mesh components for a total LI of 2 when linked together. Default scale is approximately 5.5m tall.
Textures:
Clean and Rusty Diffuse, Spec and Normal maps included - in high and low resolution. The low rez textures are 1024 high by 128 wide, making them very light on texture memory (1/8th the memory of a 1024x1024 texture!). If you find these are too small for your purposes, you can use the high-rez (HR) textures. These are 1024 high by 512 wide so may appear out of proportion, but they do provide higher texture detail.
High and Low Rez Ambient Occlusion (aka shadow) maps are also provided in the full perms version of this product.
Meshes:
There are 4 versions of the linked mesh provided, with each material set pre-configured (in high and low rez versions).
Configuring Materials:
If you wish to configure the materials yourself, here are a few suggestions. If in doubt, compare the settings on the clean and rusty meshes to see the differences between the two.
Adjust the diffuse color to be lighter/darker or even a different hue.
Adjust specular properties to be more/less shiny by changing the glossiness and/or environment reflection.
The light is scripted to turn on/off by touch.
Configuring the Lights:
The script for controlling the light is relatively straightforward. All lines that can be configured have comments (//orange text) to make it clear. Light color ('vector lightcolor'), intensity('float intensity'), radius ('float radius'), falloff ('float falloff'), glow ('float glow') and color of the glass ('vector offcolor') are all adjustable.
When changing color values, the best way is to use the color picker as normal, then note down the RGB values. Divide these values by 255 to get a number between 0.0 - 1.0. For example, white is 255,255,255 or 1.0,1.0,1.0. Bright red is 255,0,0 or 1.0,0,0.
Please note that if you change the color of the light outside of the script (ie: The usual way in the edit window), it will reset to the script values when you next activate it.
