Inspired by the 7.9m catamaran from Cheetah Marine, this is a small versatile catamaran intended for a variety of roles such as coastal survey, harbour master and patrolling.
It's been sensibly built to allow you to remove parts that you don't need or want so that you can modify it for crab/lobster catching, diving, fishing or just simple pleasure boating.
Like my other vehicles, it is minimally scripted and everything is there to ensure you get a reliable vehicle with a sense of the real thing. It is designed to be extremely modifiable and resilient to modding. The majority of the code can be modified too, since I believe in giving you as much flexibility for modding as I can.
So you won't find lots of features that aren't directly related to being a skipper. I don't add things that I personally would never/rarely use.
What you will find is a boat built to RL scale, with everything needed to simply go on a journey in something that looks and feels like a boat.
Briefly, the main features are:-
a) about 32/33 knot top speed in normal mode, about 41 knots in high speed mode
b) will rock about and crest off of imaginary waves when moving
c) rocking motion can be turned on/off when moored
d) an optional fuel system
e) can be guested to others
f) various moving/animated parts
g) navigation and mast lights work
h) a working light bar with a variety of colours, patterns and siren/horn sounds for people that like that sort of thing
i) and if you get it beached on land, expect it to stay there! (so don't get it beached!)
If you're taller than a RL human (about 6 feet) then you'll probably not be able to walk through the cabin door in to the cabin, the boat is rather small and SL doesn't give us the luxury of stooping to get through low doors. But the boat can be scaled up or down to fit you just fine :)
There are 2 versions included in the box, one with 2 seats and one with 4 seats. You can add/remove seats if you need to, the boat shouldn't complain.
The 2 seater is 60 land impact while the 4 seater is 62 land impact.
Version 1.2.0 added a high speed mode and a choice of 2 reverse steering modes, while AVSittre support got added in 1.2.1 for those wanting to use it but not wanting to tweak existing code to enable AVSit usage.
See the in world shop for a demo!
See item in Second Life- 100% homemade for SL, by me
- a solid vehicle for travelling the grid
- can be guested to others
- *very* modifiable, including most of the code
- includes an AVSitter enabled version
TOTALLY AWESOME!
Finally something that works without any problems. This boat is awesome. It is fun to drive especially is you use real reverse and kick in the hi speed. Have used it on LL Oceans without any problems. If you want a fun boat that is not hard to operate, then this is the boat for you. Only thing I wish was included is how to add additional seats but that did not have a negative effect on the rating value.
Good Catamaran Design.
Have you ever drove the cutest catamarans? for GTFO Job Business Purposes or The Passengers Transport? on the public waterways? This Boat are very modifiable to have more seat for the Passengers. and The GTFO Cargo on the boat-bed.
Awesome lil Boat !
Thanks so much for your work on this, it handles beautifully and is a lot of fun to drive.
Highly recommended..
My fav!
For this price and all of the mod options? yes...oh and it drives like a charm...fully recomment it! 5 stars!
Amazing for the price!
This boat does boaty stuff well! It feels alot like a real boat while cruising around the seas, it sounds amazing, and drives amazing, the interior could have more clicky things and some immersion there, but for this price i cant complain, and hey, it is fully modifiable, EVEN SOME SCRIPTS in it! You can go to town on this one and make it fully unique! I love thinkering with stuff, modifying everything, adding more functionality to things, and making them look how i want them to look. No ammount of scripted customisability will defeat fully modify things. Ultimate customisation!
