The ESS is designed to store virtual energy produced by generators such as wind turbines and PV modules. The energy can be output either continuously or on demand to clients with scripted devices such as electric trains or cars. The display panels shows net power input, net daily energy input and total stored energy, and the optional hovertext shows this data with all inputs & outputs from & to clients. A user-definable channel offset (default 0) can be set to restrict the clients to a chosen group. Storage is updated continuously at user-definable intervals (default 5s), and the values stored in the ESS linkset data. You can use more than one ESS if they are given different offsets.
An Energy Storage Backup box is provided to allow replacement of the ESS with upgrades without loss of data.
On rez, the ESS will immediately register all communicable clients in use on the same sim. A simple touch (click) menu is available:
* hover-text: Toggle on/off floating text which lists clients which have been registered with their inputs (+ve for generators) & outputs (-ve for consumers).
* backup: Backup data to the Energy Storage Backup box before upgrading the ESS to a new version from MP.
* restore: Restore data from the Energy Storage Backup box after replacing your ESS with a new version.
* rescan: Newly-rezzed & newly-named clients will be automatically registered with the ESS, but a rescan is necessary when a client is removed from the system or has its Object Description changed. Data is not affected.
* reset: Full script reset - all data cleared, and scanning restarted.
Usage
-------
The energy store can be used for (a) On-Demand Energy, where users with permits can recharge their vehicles or devices, and (b) On-Line Energy, to enable continuous supply of power to a client, e.g. an electric train
The ESS can be mounted on any object of your choice to represent the physical energy storage device. The script used for the Energy Storage Backup box can be transferred to any object of your choice.
Scripts have Copy permission.
